If you have a disability or have a long term illness, you are exempt from paying VAT on the price of a mobility scooter.

For VAT purposes, you’re disabled or have a long-term illness if one of the following apply:

      • you have a physical impairment that affects your ability to carry out everyday activities
      • you have a condition that’s treated as chronic sickness, like diabetes
      • you’re terminally ill

The following list gives examples of disabilities or illnesses which qualify for VAT exemption. The list is not exhaustive.

  • Ankylosing Spondylitis
  • Arthritis
  • Bronchiectasis
  • Cancer
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • COPD
  • Degenerative Spine
  • Diabetes
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Motor Neuron Disease
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • Peripheral Vascular Disease
  • Pulmonary Fibrosis
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Spina Bifida
  • Stroke

If you wish to purchase a mobility scooter without paying VAT, we have a legal obligation to ask if you are eligible for VAT exemption. If this is not done we will need to contact you before processing the order, which will delay your delivery.
